Day 1- We have arrived safely at Heatree! The sunshine has even made a brief appearance for us!

Our first activity was an adventure walk on Dartmoor. The purpose of the walk was to connect with nature and so while on our journey we took part in a few activities. Firstly, we had to find shapes in nature that matched the lines of our hands. Then, use mirrors to look at the trees and sky and a game ‘Storm the castle’ helped us reach the top of a large hill. When we reached the summit we sat on some great rocks and took time to reflect on what we could see and experience while at Heatree.

In the evening, we went for a night walk, it was a bit cloudy but we saw some stars and used a bat detector to find signs of bats!

Day 2-

Today saw an early rise and breakfast!

First, we took part in a low adventure. This was a team building exercise completing a course where we had to work together to complete as a team. Some enjoyed swinging on ropes like Tarzan while others liked the see-saw bridge. Many of us enjoyed the final part of the course, walking up a river, through tunnels and a water slide!
In the afternoon, we took part in the big tree climb. We all thought about how high we would like to climb the tree and then challenged ourselves with the work of our team to try a step more. Everyone did brilliantly!
In the evening, we had a campfire in a roundhouse. We all shared some camp fire songs we know.

Day 3- Bags packed.  Rooms stripped – with a little helping hand.  The final breakfast is underway – with this mornings speciality – hoops with a sprinkling of coco pops!

We had our final morning gathering and the staff and children recognised and celebrated the values the children have demonstrated whilst on their residential.
