Attendance is a priority in school and will continue to be so. We encourage all families to ensure that their children attend school consistently and on time. If your child is absent for any reason, it is vital that you contact school on 01460 73437 or email the school office email@example.com before 9.00am.
If we have concerns about a child’s attendance, we will contact their parent/carer. If absences fall into a regular pattern, we will be seeking the advice of the school’s Education Engagement Officer.
Children arriving after 8.55 am will be classed as late If your child arrives after 9.00am they will be classed as late after the registered closed and this will go down as an unauthorised absence. If a child is late to school, they should enter via the school office. The adult who is bringing the child to school will need to complete a late form.
If there is an unavoidable reason for your child being absent from school and you wish to apply for a term-time leave (this is not necessary for medical appointments etc.), please complete the form below. Paper copies can be collected from the school office. If you are taking a holiday during term time, it is vital that you receive permission from the Head Teacher.
Information regarding Penalty Notices
Our school follows Somerset Council’s advice. Therefore you may receive a fine for unauthorised consecutive absence of 10 registration sessions (5 days) or more.
In school, one day = 2 registration sessions. Pupils who have 10 unauthorised sessions of absence (5 days) may be issued a Penalty Fine of £60 per child, per parent.
Where necessary we would ask that all medical or dental appointments are made outside of school hours. If this is not possible, please inform the school office as soon as possible.
